A festival celebrating Texas Independence Day with three live re-enactments of battles, leading up to the State’s freedom from Mexico. Battles include the famous Battle of the Alamo, the Battle of San Jacinto, and the Battle of Bexar with period attire. Also on site will be demonstrations of vendors baking pan de campo, quilt-making and other old-time skills. Vendor spaces available for foods, arts/ crafts and corporate/businesses. The sanctioned barbecue cook-off is scheduled to begin on March 9, with winners to be announced on Saturday. Other events include the Chili Cook-off, a brisket plate sale, Declaration of Independence signing ceremony, live music, raffles and refreshments. Food & Drink and Arts & Crafts vendors are wanted.

Event to be conducted in partnership with the City of San Benito at San Benito Fairgrounds off of FM 510 in San Benito.
Rain Day information: Should the event need to be cancelled due to weather, the re-enactments will be rescheduled to Saturday, March 17. The BBQ Cook-off will occur regardless, on March 9-10.
