A festival celebrating Texas Independence Day with three live re-enactments of battles, leading up to the State’s freedom from Mexico. Battles include the famous Battle of the Alamo, the Battle of San Jacinto, and the Battle of Bexar with period attire. Also on site will be demonstrations of vendors baking pan de campo, quilt-making and other old-time skills. Vendor spaces available for foods, arts/ crafts and corporate/businesses. The sanctioned barbecue cook-off is scheduled to begin on March 9, with winners to be announced on Saturday. Other events include the Chili Cook-off, a brisket plate sale, Declaration of Independence signing ceremony, live music, raffles and refreshments. Food & Drink and Arts & Crafts vendors are wanted.

First annual Resaca City Music Festival, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Heavin Memorial Park. Gates open at 3:00 pm with music starting at 4:00 pm.
This event will celebrate the City’s musical heritage by promoting the evolution of Conjunto music and the various genres that have enhanced its identity, or in turn, have been inspired by Conjunto’s traditional sounds, according to Mayor Ben Gomez. This concert event will promote traditional Conjunto, Nuevo Conjunto, Country, and Rock and Roll.
The lineup for the event includes Los Garcia Brothers, Whiskey D, Retoño, Buck N Crazy and Invazzion.
Admission is $5 per person at the gate. Children under the age of 10 get in free. Tickets may be purhcased at City Hall - Utilities Department (485 N Sam Houston Blvd), at the gate, or online at www.rcmfestickets.eventbrite.com. Tickets purchased online will include a minimal convenience fee of $1.27.
In addition to music, there will be food, arts & crafts vendors, and activities for the whole family.

National Night Out - October 3, 2017
The San Benito Police Department will host its 11th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, October 3 from 6-9 p.m. at Stookey Park.
National Night Out provides an opportunity for citizens and law enforcement to partner up against crime. Everyone is invited to attend the event, meet your neighbors and commit to helping law enforcement reduce crime in this community.
Free music, food and drinks, raffle prizes and family entertainment will be offered to all who attend.
Vendors are invited to participate, as are clubs and organizations wishing to distribute give-aways and information.
